Engineering And Engineer Facts You Need To Know If You Are An Engineer

If you are an engineer, then you need to know what is engineer/ing. There are millions of people around the world who are engineers and been working in various different profession. Being an engineer, if someone asks you "what is engineering?" and if you fail to give an answer for it, then it has no value.

And most people assume that engineer means, one who install, manage or service any devices or equipment. No!, these are not done by engineers. And engineering means pursuing a bachelor's degree and look for high paying jobs. Maybe it was happening earlier due to lack of engineers and the technology. But in todays' age, the things have changed a lot.

Engineering And Engineer Facts You Need To Know If You Are An Engineer

As an Engineer, I would like to share my broad opinion & clear knowledge about enginner/ing, in order to avoid false and misleading statements.

What Is Engineering?

In general, the engineering can be defined as an, "Art, study or profession in creating, developing and implementing the systems, structure or mechanism by using science, math & technical concepts for solving practical scientific problems.

"The person who is skilled or specialized in the field of engineering is called engineer. Or one who uses science, math or technical concepts to solve technical problems, and brings practical solutions for a given goals & constraints."

The term 'technical' refers to any scientific or a practical thing often requiring or associated with techniques.

If any complex stuffs are made to work in a best possible ways as per the requirements, then we say "it is well engineered."

Facts About Engineer/ing

Firstly, engineering is not a business studies for earning money! It is a technical course for designing, developing, innovating and implementing the technology. Yes, one must know this thing very clearly. But in general, getting a job and the pay scale actually depends on one's technical skills & experience related to their career.

Engg mainly deals with mathematical analysis, learning and reapplying the technical concepts to solve
practical scientific problems, designing, developing and implementing the technology and resources for the real life applications.

The main goal of an engineer is to design, develop, optimize & innovate technology, solving practical problems and bringing solutions for a given goals & constraints. However installing, managing and fixing things are done by the technicians.

There's always a difference between engineer and a good engineer. Good engineers are the one with deep technical knowledge, thinking, analytical reasoning and problem solving skills.

Engineer/ing is making complex things simple, not simple thing a complex! The complexity actually lies in practical scenarios. So, to make these tedious/complex things simple, engineers tend to simplify them in smart and efficient ways.

Engineering is not only about learning technical subjects for
4 years and looking for a job. But, training the mind to think, problem solving, reasoning and reapplying the knowledge and bringing solutions to the practical problems. So, this is the main discipline of engg.

School education gives you only the basic knowledge. But Engg/STEM can enhance our ability to think deeply, problem solving, self thinking & decision making, analytical reasoning, creativity & productivity, if studied effectively as compared to secondary schools & other streams. So, at this point where our intelligence tends to develop.

But remember, just carrying loads of knowledge don't impact your intelligence, but deep thinking, analytical reasoning, problem solving and reapplying the knowledge does.

All these practical thinking, logical reasoning, decision making & problem solving skills are not only related to engineering and jobs! But are also very essential in our personal life too. So, engg also plays a key role in our personal life and growth. And
this is the reason why in most cases who make anything better, are mostly from STEM background.

It looks like, Albert Einstein was talking about STEM, & hope it's not about history or grammar things.

Just holding the bachelor's degree certificate or having better academic grades, won't describe you as real engineer, it can only be your identity. A real engineer possesses deep thinking, problem solving, creativity and technical knowledge & the skills related to their career. Also, the academic grades are not a constraints, nor it can describe one as a real engineer

With a minimum IQ of 110, one can able to pursue any STEM courses efficiently. The IQ factor actually has a greater significance in the field of engineering & technology.

Generally, a basic level engineers requires training in order to be skillful in designing and implementing the technology, which are usually trained and guided by the professional engineers.

Being an engineer, one needs to have practical thinking, clear thinking and self thinking skills, rather than trusting in beliefs and fantasies.

Being an engr, it doesn't matter if you choose to work in other field, but at least if you don't make use of practical/logical thinking, problem solving, decision making & creative skills in personal life, then your bachelor's degree can be useless.

Conclusion

We have discussed what is engineer/ing in details and some interesting topics related to it. I also revealed, how engg can improve our mindset and have positive impact on our personal life by means of thinking, problem solving and reasoning skills, which are highly essential in our daily life.
